StompSync started as a spreadsheet. One column per knob, one row per song, printed and taped to the floor next to the board. It worked, right up until the tape curled and the lights went down.
Everything here comes from something going wrong on a stage. The highlight that shows what changed between two songs exists because reading a whole board in fifteen seconds is impossible, and reading three marked knobs is not. The padlock on a phone exists because scrolling with a thumb kept nudging the drive down by two.
The board is read from a photograph because typing out forty knobs is the kind of chore that stops you setting the thing up at all. And the app tells you which numbers it was unsure about, because a wrong reading that looks confident is worse than an admitted guess.
None of it tries to be clever with your rig. It does not switch your pedals, it does not know better than you, and it does not ask you to change how you play. It remembers, in the order you play, so you can stop keeping forty numbers in your head and go back to listening to the room.
If it gets in your way, that is worth hearing. Most of what is in here was changed because someone said “that is not how it works on a gig”.
