Does it control my pedals?

No. Nothing is MIDI-controlled and no cable runs from the tablet to the floor. StompSync remembers where every knob was and shows you what to change. You still stomp.

Does it need an internet connection at the gig?

Yes, for now. Your setlists live in the cloud so the same board shows up on your phone, tablet and laptop, but that means a venue with no signal is a problem. Offline is the next thing being built. Until then, load the set before you go on and leave the page open.

What if my pedal is a boutique one nobody has heard of?

It works the same. You name the pedal and its knobs yourself, so a hand-built overdrive from a guy in Curitiba is no harder to set up than a BOSS. The photo reader will do better with pedals whose lettering it can read, but you can always type it in.

How well does building the board from a photo really work?

Names and knob labels come out well when the board is shot from above in even light, close enough to read the writing. The knob positions are an estimate, and the app marks every reading it was unsure about in amber so you know what to check. Treat it as a way to skip typing, not as a measurement.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. On a phone every pedal takes the full width and they stack. A tablet on a mic stand is still the better seat.

I already keep my setlist in a spreadsheet.

Point StompSync at a Google Sheet and it will import the songs, and any columns named like "BOSS SD-1: Drive" become pedals and knobs. Careful: importing replaces the songs in that setlist.

What happens when I change my pedalboard?

Add, rename or remove a pedal and it changes across the whole setlist, because the board belongs to the setlist rather than to one song. The values you dialled in per song stay where they are.

Can two songs have completely different boards?

Within one setlist, every song shares the same pedals and differs in the settings. If you play two genuinely different rigs, make two setlists.

Can I knock a setting out of place by accident?

Not without meaning to. Every pedal is locked until you tap its padlock, on the phone, the tablet and the desktop alike, and it locks itself again half a minute after your last adjustment. Scrolling a page with a finger or a mouse leaves every knob where it was. Turning one is something you do at a rehearsal, not by brushing the screen mid-song.

Does it replace my lyrics app?

It can. Each song holds lyrics and chords with a scroll you set the speed of, plus notes, the key, the tempo and a metronome. If you would rather keep using what you have, use StompSync for the board alone.

What does it cost?

It is free while it is being built. If that changes, anyone already using it will hear about it from us first, not from a paywall appearing in the middle of a set.
